Natural stone pieces—such as travertine, limestone, soapstone, and granite—bring organic texture and timeless elegance to luxury interiors. To preserve their beauty and structural integrity, it’s essential to follow proper care practices. This guide is designed to help customers protect and maintain their Elevated Living stone products for years to come.

Daily & Routine Care

1. Cleaning Best Practices

  • Wipe stone surfaces regularly using a soft, damp cloth.
  • For routine cleaning, use a pH-neutral cleaner made specifically for natural stone.
  • Avoid abrasive materials and acidic or alkaline cleaners that can degrade the stone’s surface over time.

2. Spill Management

  • Immediately blot any spills, particularly from wine, oils, citrus, or vinegar, to prevent staining or etching.
  • Use coasters, placemats, and trays to avoid direct contact with food and beverages.

3. Dust & Debris

  • Use a microfiber cloth to remove dust from textured or porous stone surfaces.
  • For rough-cut finishes, consider using a soft-bristle brush to gently remove trapped particles.

Preventative Measures

1. Sealing

  • Most Elevated Living stone products are pre-sealed, but resealing every 12–18 months is recommended, especially for porous stones like travertine or limestone.
  • Perform the water test: if water darkens the stone, it’s time to reseal.
  • Apply a penetrating stone sealer according to manufacturer instructions, ensuring adequate ventilation and curing time.

2. Surface Protection

  • Use coasters under glasses, especially those containing alcohol, citrus, or carbonation.
  • Place trivets or mats under hot dishes or cooking items to avoid heat shock.
  • Attach felt pads under decorative objects to prevent surface scratching.

Deep Cleaning & Stain Treatment

1. Stain Removal

  • Use a stone-specific poultice or create one with baking soda and water for oily stains or hydrogen peroxide and flour for organic stains.
  • Apply poultice paste, cover with plastic wrap, and allow to sit 24–48 hours before gently scraping off and rinsing.

2. Etching & Dulling

  • If the stone becomes etched or dull due to acidic exposure, it may require professional polishing or refinishing.
  • Avoid any DIY polishing compounds unless labeled safe for the specific stone type.
